Amber’s Graduation and Khantoke Dinner
Congratulations to Amber, she successfully completed the SEE TEFL program on Friday! Her TEFL certificate is accepted in 162 countries around the world, so that gives us a lot of travel options for the future! Here is a photo from the graduation ceremony.
To celebrate her accomplishment, Amber and I went to a traditional Khantoke dinner show. Everyone sits on the floor or on slightly elevated platforms surrounding the performance stage. You’re served all-you-can-eat traditional Northern Thailand food, such as rice, slow-roasted pork, chicken, steamed vegetables, crispy fried noodles, etc. Meanwhile, performers in elaborate costumes dance to a live band of traditional instruments. Some dancers twirl swords or fire in the air. Even small children in traditional clothing perform some of the dances! To get into the spirit of the event, we both wore traditional Thai clothing we bought in the local markets. The Khantoke dinner show was a great way to end our fourth week in Chiang Mai.
