Relaxing at Huay Tung Tao lake
Last Sunday (yes, I apologize, I’m a week behind on posting to our blog!), we went to a relaxing lake just north of Chiang Mai. The lake is called Huay Tung Tao, and it’s man-made. So technically, it’s a reservoir and not a lake. Either way, this is one of the best-kept secrets in Chiang Mai. Since it’s not really advertised, most farangs never see it. Local Thai families go there to enjoy swimming, fishing, paddle-boating, and relaxing in bamboo huts along the water’s edge.
The weather was perfect – blue skies, puffy white clouds, a light breeze, and not too hot. We ate lunch in one of the bamboo huts, and I waded in the water a bit. After four weeks of Amber’s SEE TEFL course, Huay Tung Tao lake turned out to be the perfect place for some much-needed rest and relaxation.

Did Amber get her hair cut? It looks great!
